A French Palissy style trompe l'oeil oval platter naturalistically modeled with a snake in the center surrounded by four fish and shells. The border with a snake, a lizard, frogs, a turle, shells, a crayfish, a shrimp and a butterfly. Signed on the border "F. Maurice". France. Late 19th century. François Maurice participated at the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1889. His workshop was situated in Paris, rue des Rasselins.
